Cheri Pierson Re-Yecke-ted

The Senate fulfilled its role as a check on the chief executive's power and rejected Cheri Pierson Yecke as state Education Commissioner. Good for them.

According to an article in the Pioneer Press, Gov. Pawlenty issued a statement:
“In the dark of night, the Democrats in the Minnesota Senate have done a great disservice to our state. By rejecting Commissioner Yecke on a party-line vote, they have rejected innovation and accountability for our education system. My disappointment in their action and the loss to our state is deep and profound.”

No word on whether the Guv was governing down in St. Paul along with the legislative branch, or if he was spending the taxpayer's money on the Governor's Fishing Opener.
