Janklow convicted of manslaughter. I think that's the correct verdict. If you're too drunk to realize that you shouldn't get behind the wheel, you're still responsible for your actions, because you're responsible for what you put into your body. Janklow's defense was that he had a diabetic reaction (or something along those lines, but I'm sure the people in that part of SoDak don't believe it), and he "forgot to eat." If DWI convictions can be had by people being responsible for what they put into their bodies, the manslaughter can be had by people being responsible for what they don't put into their bodies. You have to take care of yourself if you have a condition like diabetes, and be prepared to accept the consequences if you don't.
