At the end of this month, we go off of Daylight Savings Time and return to Standard Time. Two points:

We're on Daylight Savings Time for almost seven whole months, and Standard Time for five months. Literally, shouldn't the "standard" be for the majority of the year?

The government passes laws declaring what time it is. The only reason that it's 8:25 in the morning and not 7:25 or 9:25 is because the government says it is. Freaky.
